ABOUT COLLEGE
Hindu Girls College accredited with the esteemed ‘A’ Grade by NAAC is a leading and distinguished multi faculty educational institute not only of Haryana but the whole of northern India. College is a proud recipient of the coveted grant of Rs. 2 crore under RUSA scheme for infrastructure and building construction sanctioned by MHRD and State Government. It is being run under the aegis of The Hindu Educational and Charitable Society, Sonepat under the dynamic leadership of Sh. Pawan Kumar Gupta. The Society has been active since 1914 and today has 16 institutions under its umbrella.
Hindu Girls College was started as a 'Girls wing' of Hindu College, Sonepat in 1958 with the intention of extending education to girls of the region. It acquired a separate entity in 1982. The Mission of the college is "Transforming lives of girls by educating, emancipating and empowering them" and the Vision is "Women empowerment and inculcating the right values'. To achieve this, we are going from strength to strength. The college enjoys an enviable place among the educational institutes of NCR and is one of the most sought after institutions for inculcating the right values while making the girls techno- savvy. Every year nearly 1000 students pass out as conscientious, determined, noble and disciplined citizens. The college provides a home away from home for those hailing from remote areas. It can boast of a safe, airy and spacious hostel providing comfortable accommodation to more than 400 girls. More than 2900 girls took admission in the session – 2019-2020
The college imparts education in all the three disciplines:
UG in Arts, Science and Commerce.
• Vocational Courses - BCCA, B.Sc. (Comp. Sc.), B.Sc. (Biotech.), BBA, BCA, B.Com. (Hons.), B.Sc. Maths (Hons.).
• PG in Economics, Sanskrit, Mathematics, English, Geography, Commerce, Chemistry and Physics.
• Career - Oriented Programmes like e-commerce and Communicative English.
The session 2019-20 started on July 1, 2018 with Dr. R.K. Gupta as regular Principal. He retired on 29th February 2020 and the College is now headed by Dr. Neeta Mittal. The college faculty comprises assiduous and experienced 113 members and supported by an industrious team of 50 technical and non-technical employees.
In the domain of education, research work has become imperative for teachers as well as students which not only illuminates them but takes them out of the maze of stale ideas. The college organises Conferences / Seminars every year to give vital educational exposure to the students. This year Dept. of Mathematics organised a National Seminar. Extension lectures were also arranged by various Societies / Cells to keep the pupils updated. In order to avert the instances of gender harassment from getting flared up into bigger heinous crimes against women, the college has Internal Complaints Committee under the aegis of AntiSexual Harassment Cell and Women Cell to empower girls.
